There are a lot of shopping malls in Bangkok to choose from but Terminal 21 Rama3 is retail heaven with some unique theming and designs – it is one good looking and fun shopping center.
One of the newest malls in Bangkok (it opened in late 2022) with an incredible riverside setting, every level at Terminal 21 Rama3 represents a different international country, from a Harry Potter style train (platform 3 ½) and huge London Tower Bridge on the English level to some snow monkey themed toilets on the Japanese floor.

Bangkok’s newest shopping mall on the riverfront
Opened in late 2022, Terminal 21 Rama3 is Bangkok’s newest shopping mall and shopping centre located directly on the river. Bangkok is no stranger to riverside malls with ICONSIAM, RiverCity Bangkok and Asiatique all having prime waterside locations on the Chao Phraya.
Expertly designed with (shopping) bags of choice for fashion or food, coffee or clothing, there are also hundreds of shops to browse plus dozens of restaurants to dine in.
Terminal 21 Rama3 also has one of the biggest and cheapest food courts in the whole of Bangkok. There are seven floors of international foods and theming to enjoy too (more on this later).

Terminal 21 Rama3 Opening Hours
Bangkok’s Terminal 21 Rama3 is open daily from 10am to 10pm – individual store opening hours may vary (and the cinema closes later).
Terminal 21 Rama 3 International Theming
Like all the other Terminal 21 shopping malls in Thailand that have come before it, Terminal 21 Rama3 continues the international theming and fun displays across every floor.
If you’ve ever been to Terminal 21 Asok or Terminal 21 Pattaya before, you know what to expect – but this time, the theming is bigger and better!

Lower Ground Floor (the Caribbean)
The lower ground floor is mainly a food court with other food and drink kiosks, plus a large Tops supermarket and a Daiso Japan store.
When we last visited Terminal 21 Rama3 in June 2023 (9 months after it opened), this seemed to be the one floor they were still struggled with – many of the food stores / kiosks were vacant.
This is possibly because the Pier 21 / San Francisco food court on the top floor is much more popular and cheaper. This is still a good spot if you want to grab a quick bite without having to queue or having to have a sit down meal in a restaurant.
The theming on the ground floor at Terminal 21 Rama 3 is Caribbean with lots of beachside features like a pirate ship, a large lighthouse, a whale, a flamingo pond and even a bathroom themed with surfboards. Surf’s up!
Ground Floor (England / London)
London calling! And other parts of England too like the Grand Union Canal. This is probably our favourite themed floor at Terminal 21 Rama 3, not because it reminds us of home but because it is so well done.
There is so much English theming like Mini metro cars, swan ponds, canal boats, Union Jacks on the roof and even a human statue walking a British Bulldog.
Better yet, the centre-piece is a huge model of the Tower Bridge, one of London’s most famous landmarks – this is how all shopping centers and malls in Bangkok should be.
There are also cute Paddington Bear type statues everywhere and a Harry Potter style platform 3 ½ steam engine and bathroom. We say ‘style’ as they are clearly meant to be similar to Paddington Bear and Harry Potter but don’t have the proper licensing.

1st Floor (Italy / Rome)
A little piece of Italy comes to Bangkok in the shape of the first floor at Terminal 21 Rama3. There are Italian touches across the entire level from a recreation of the Venice canals (complete with gondolas which you can sit inside and pose for a photo in).
You’ll also spot a pizza delivery boat, a dog in a Vespa scooter plus a recreation of the classic Romeo and Juliet balcony from verona. Ciao bella!
This whole floor feels very faux Italian like the Bellagio resort in Las Vegas or the Italian style shopping mall One Nimman in Chiang Mai.
2nd Floor (France / Paris)
Viva La France! Take a trip down an Autumnal Parisian street, or enjoy a French style fairground carousel – there are even supporting pillars made to look like baguettes plus huge croissant chairs you can sit in.
The centre-piece of the French level at Terminal 21 Rama3 in Bangkok is a beautiful air balloon that floats in the middle of the shopping mall.
If you thought it couldn’t get any more surreal or stereotypical, there are dogs in berets plus a themed Tour De France bathroom – top theming!
3rd Floor (Tokyo / Japan)
From a foray of foxes to snow monkey onsen toilets (seriously), the third floor of Terminal 21 Rama3 is turning Japanese with an awesome array of artefacts like cherry blossom trees, red lanterns dangling from the ceiling,
Other highlights to look out for include recreations of iconic Japanese moments like the boy and dog statue from the Issen Yoshoku restaurant in Kyoto, the bright lights of Shinjuku and the mochi making with hammers as seen in Nara.

4th and 5th Floor (America; Hollywood and San Francisco)
The final two floors at Terminal 21 Rama3 are American themed with the SF Cinema Terminal 21 area decked out to look like Hollywood complete with popcorn themed chairs, a huge Academy Award / Oscar Statue plus vintage film canister ceilings.
The famed Terminal 21 Pier 21 Food Court area (which they have in every Terminal 21 throughout Thailand) is made to look like the San Francisco bay area with model seals, trams and all manner of nautical theming.

Terminal 21 Rama3 restrooms and toilets – the best bathrooms in Bangkok?
In keeping with the international theming on each floor, the bathrooms / toilets / restrooms at Terminal 21 Rama3 have to be seen to be believed. Seriously, the toilet theming is so outrageously OTT, they have to be the best bathrooms in Bangkok.
The best bathroom theming includes:
Snow Monkey / Onsen Bathrooms, part of 3rd Floor (Tokyo / Japan)
Tour De France bathrooms, part of 2nd Floor (France / Paris)
Harry Potter style / Platform 3 ½ bathrooms part of the 1st Floor (London / UK)
Canal Barge / cruise ship bathrooms part of the 1st Floor (London / UK)
Ramen restaurant style bathrooms, part of 3rd Floor (Tokyo / Japan)
American diner style toilets, part of the 5th floor / Pier 21 San Francisco food court
An honourable mention must also go to the surf style toilets on the lower ground floor and the stable style toilets on the Italian level on the first floor complete with horses heads (but not in a ‘Godfather’ movie way).

Food and Drink
There are dining options to suit all budgets and tastes at Terminal 21 Rama3.
Perhaps most popular is the Pier 21 San Francisco Food Court on the top floor. There are around 20 different food stalls (plus drinks and dessert kiosks) here selling curries, papaya salads, roasted duck, crispy pork, oyster omelettes plus a couple of vegetarian options.
Most dishes cost around 30 THB to 50 THB and are served within seconds. Remember to activate a payment card when you first arrive at the Terminal 21 Rama3 Pier 21 food court as no stalls accept cash. You then collect any unused credit from your card at the end.
The food court on the ground level / Carribean floor is a little quieter.
There are restaurants at Terminal 21 selling cuisine from all over the world including Italian, French, Japanese, European and American style food.
Restaurants include MK, Yayoi, Fuji Japanese, Sizzler, Bar-B-Q Sizzler, Banana Leaf and COCO ICHIBANYA.
Coffee shops and dessert shops include Starbucks and Swensen’s. However there is no 7-Eleven at this mall (so instead, get your fix of all things 7-Eleven Thailand here).

Shops at Terminal 21 Rama3 / Directory
Across the seven floors at Terminal 21 Rama3, you’ll find hundreds of famous brands as well as more boutique and independent stalls – note this isn’t a luxury shopping centre (more aimed at families, tourists and casual shoppers) so you WON’T find brands like Gucci or Prada.
Popular stalls at Terminal 21 Rama3 include Uniqlo, Moshi Moshi, Boots, Watson’s, Mini So, Daiso, Adidas, Crocs, True and Huawei.
Most health and beauty stores can be found on levels 3 and 4, with a Let’s Relax health and treatment spa also located on level 4 – this floor is ‘Hollywood’ themed (like the city, NOT the beauty treatment!!!).

Riverside deck and terrace at Terminal 21 Rama3
You’ll find two outdoor terraces and viewpoints at Terminal 21 Rama 3, overlooking the Chao Phraya River.
On the ground level, there is a small outdoor area with an ‘olive garden’ (well, they say olive garden but it is just a few very dry looking trees and bushes on wheels).
On level 4, there is a better outdoor terrace with a few benches and a small seating area.
To be honest, this is the one section of Terminal 21 Rama3 that is really lacking; stay indoors where the design and theming is excellent.
The Terminal 21 outdoor space is nothing special and the views are so-so. If you want a Bangkok shopping mall with an excellent riverside terrace, try IconSiam or even River City or Asiatique.

SF Cinema
Located on the top floor of Terminal 21 Rama 3 (and handily located just across from the Pier 21 Food Court), SF Cinema Terminal 21 Rama 3 continues the mall theming with a huge popcorn and Academy Award statue plus the ceiling is made to look like massive film canisters.
There are also several movie set scenes you can pose in or do selfies in.
The cinema here also has some really interesting popcorn flavours like mango sticky rice popcorn and coconut popcorn.
Also remember to check out the themed American diner toilets / bathrooms right next to the SF Cinema Terminal 21 Rama 3 as they are amazing!
SF Cinema Terminal 21 Rama 3 has special screens including Sony digital 4k and IMAX.
Other activities and theme parks
On the top floor next to the cinema, you’ll find Harborland Terminal 21 Rama3, a ‘wonder sea’ / aquatic indoor adventure playground for kids. As well as slides, assault course and ball pits, highlights include ‘Aero Strike’, a ball shooting game and Valo Jump (a VR game).
Harborland tickets start from 160 Baht (June 2023) for 2.5 hours for a small toddler.
Free Shuttle Bus from Central Bangkok
A free Terminal 21 Rama3 shuttle bus runs every hour from 9am to 9:30pm (with a short break for lunch).
This free Terminal 21 Rama 3 shuttle bus runs between Terminal 21 Rama3 exit 1 and exit 4 of the BTS Surasak. The journey takes approx 20 to 30 minutes dependent on traffic
The terminal 21 Rama3 shuttle bus is quite small, an approx 10 seater mini-van – so arrive early if you want to guarantee a seat. You can also track the shuttle-bus in real time via the Viabus app in Thailand.

The first Terminal 21 Rama shuttle departs the mall at 10am and the final shuttle departs the Terminal 21 Rama3 mall at 9:30pm.
The first Terminal 21 Rama shuttle to depart from Surasak BTS also departs at 10am but the final shuttle to leave the BTS station leaves earlier at 9pm.

Other Terminal 21 shopping malls in Thailand
In additional to Terminal 21 Rama3 in Bangkok, there are three other Terminal 21 shopping malls in Thailand:
Terminal 21 Asok
Perhaps the best known Terminal 21 shopping mall in Bangkok, located in Sukhumvit, Terminal 21 Asok was the first to open, having been launched in October 2011.
The most popular Terminal 21 in Thailand, this is also how the shopping mall chain got its name; “21” refers to Soi Sukhumvit 21 (Asok Montri Road) where this first mall is located.
Terminal 21 has 10 storeys of retail stores, plus an excellent Pier21 food-court (so cheap!) and a cinema level. It is located right next to BTS Asok station and Sukhumvit MRT station.
The international themes at Terminal 21 Asok are the Caribbean, London, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul, Paris, San Francisco and Hollywood.
Terminal 21 Korat
The second Terminal 21 in Thailand – Terminal 21 Korat opened in 2017 and is the only shopping mall in the region. The mall consists of seven storeys, including a skydeck and large cinemas on the upper levels.
The theming at Terminal 21 Korat across the levels is Caribbean, London, Paris, Istanbul, Hollywoo, San Francisco and Tokyo.
The highlight at Terminal 21 is a large replica of the Eiffel Tower from France.
Terminal 21 Pattaya
The third Terminal 21 shopping mall in Thailand can be located in Pattaya – this also has an excellent and very inexpensive food-court plus a huge Eiffel Tower in the middle of the mall.
The unique feature of the Terminal 21 Pattaya shopping mall is an actual, full size Terminal 21 branded airplane parked outside the mall on a runway (there is also a smaller King Power plane next door to it so it kinda feels like an airport)!
Terminal 21 Pattaya has the look and feel of a transport hub with various installations like a huge baggage sculpture.
There are six floors at Terminal 21 Pattaya – GF represents France / Paris, the middle floor represents London / England and the first floor Rome / Italy.
The second floor at Pattaya Terminal 21 is themed as Tokyo, Japan, the third floor as San Francisco (complete with themed food court) plus the top floor is a Hollywood themed cineplex.

Which is the best Terminal 21 shopping mall in Thailand – Asok, Rama3 Bangkok or Pattaya?
In our opinion, they are all good! The great thing about Terminal 21 malls in Thailand is that the theming is always excellent.
Plus the San Francisco Pier 21 food courts they have at every branch are easily the cheapest food courts of any shopping center and mall in Bangkok – like 30 to 40 Thai Baht for most dishes (so less than £1 / $1 USD / 1 Euro etc).
Although all Terminal 21 malls are fantastic, for us, the best Terminal 21 shopping center has to be Terminal 21 Rama3 – the space is so well laid out and the international theming is better than ever.
Obviously they learn from each new mall they open so this is certainly the best Terminal 21 – and these are the best bathrooms in Bangkok! I mean, they have a Tour De France themed bathroom and a snow monkey toilet – wow!
Note that Terminal 21 Rama3 is the most difficult Terminal 21 to get to by public transport – but easy if you are getting a GRAB, taxi or the free shuttle from BTS Surasak. So if ease of travel is your main criteria, stick with Terminal 21 Asok in central Bangkok as it is right next to a BTS and MRT station so is very convenient.
How to get to Terminal 21 Rama3 in Bangkok
There are several ways you can get to Terminal 21 Rama in Bangkok on the Chao Phraya riverfront.
Note that unless you are staying very very close, we would not recommend walking to Terminal 21 Rama3 as it is next to a very busy highway and around a 50 minute walk from the nearest BTS station.
By BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System) and Shuttle Bus
The best form of public transport to Terminal 21 Rama nearest BTS station to Terminal 21 Rama3 in Bangkok is BTS Surasak station.
Take the free hourly Terminal 21 Rama3 shuttle from here (or take a taxi / GRAB from the station if the shuttle is full).
By Taxi / GRAB
We would recommend taking a taxi to Terminal 21 Rama3 as it is much more ‘remote’ and away from the main commercial centre of Bangkok.
Note that you may need to pay the 50 THB expressway / highway toll in addition to the taxi fare if you are travelling from certain parts of Bangkok. We had to pay a 50 THB toll in our GRAB taxi when travelling to Terminal 21 Rama3 from the Chinatown Area.
