The pretty and picturesque fishing village of Beer in Devon is located on the UNESCO World Heritage protected Jurassic Coast in Seaton.
As well as many things to do in Beer, Devon; the locals have taken the unique name to heart with many ‘beer’ related names and puns – cheers to Beers!

In a recent 2023 survey, Beer in Devon was also voted as one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in the UK – another reason to ‘love’ Beer in Devon (Heaven!).
From picture postcard pebble beaches to traditional British pubs, there are many things to do in Beer in Devon (2023):

Table of Contents
Beer Head
The main cliffs in the town (part of the Jurassic Coast) are Beer Head and form part of the famous South West Coast Path.
Like all good beers, these aren’t flat and offer spectacular coastal views.
There is a caravan park you can stay at here (Beer Head Caravan Park) plus the ‘Beer’ Coastguard’s station overlooks here. The walk to Branscombe along the coastal path is also recommended.
Address: Common Hill, Seaton EX12 3AH

Beer High Street
Unless you are arriving by the coastal walk, you’ll likely visit Beer in Devon by driving from nearby Seaton town, via floral Fore street. As you arrive and park up, one of the best things to do in Beer in Devon is to take a walk around the High Street, the quintessential English village.
No wonder Beer in Devon was a finalist in Channel 4’s Village of the Year competition a few years back (almost an award winning beer eh).

Beer Shops in Seaton
Here, you’ll notice the locals have happily embraced the Beer name with several cute names. We’d also initially presumed Woozie’s Deli was a reference to feeling woozy after drinking too much beer, but is simply because the owner is called Woozie – oops!.

The heart and soul of the local community is the convenience store Beer Village Stores – great for getting snacks whilst in Beer (or a newspaper).
Popular shops in Beer (Seaton) Devon include Chocolate & More (sweet treats including traditional Devon and Cornish fudge), the Cove Beer gift shop and the Beer Cream Shop! There is also a small art gallery in Beer, the Steam Gallery.
Addresses:
Woozie’s Deli, 12 Fore Street, Seaton EX12 3JQ
The Cream Shop, Fore Street, Seaton EX12, UK
Chocolate & More, Fore Street, Seaton EX12 3JB

Beer Beach
This is one beautiful beach in Devon and a world away from some of the more hectic holiday beaches – if you are visiting, this is the number one thing to do in Beer in Devon (and it is free too).

With a pebble / shingle beach and lovely limestone cliffs, the setting is sublime – you can also hire deck chairs, paddle boards and other water sporting activities at the beach. There are a couple of beachfront kiosks and eateries too – perfect for some beachside ‘beer’ snacks!

Beer Fisheries
A little up the slipway at Beer Beach, Beer Fisheries offer lots of freshly caught fish. A family run business for over 40 years, this is the best place to get fresh fish to take home (unless you catch one yourself)!
Address: Beer Fisheries, Sea Hill, Seaton EX12 3NE

Jubilee Memorial Gardens
Your best views of Beer beach come from the Jubilee Memorial Gardens situated on the headland behind – here you can admire the view from several park benches, plus read more about the history of the village from an interpretation panel.
You can also learn more about the local history from a rather intricate storyboard in the hillside shelter, entitled “The Story of Beer is written in the Stone…”
Address: Jubilee Memorial Grounds, S W Coast Path, Seaton EX12 3ED

St Michael’s Beer Church
The Church of St Michael (or Beer Parish Church) is easy to find, as it is in the heart of the town and very much acts as the focal point for the area – it is easy to spot not only due to its impressive tower, but also because of the beautiful Beer in Bloom floral sign outside.
The church was consecrated in 1878 and built on the site of a 16th c. chapel. It once had a spire, but this was removed in 1964 for safety reasons, and replaced with the current tower.
Address: St Michael’s Church, Seaton EX12 3JF

Pubs in Beer, Devon
There are several pubs in Beer. The pub closest to the coast with a big outdoor terrace garden overlooking the sea and Jurassic Coast is the Anchor Inn – now that is one top beer garden!
The best named pub here has to be Barrel O Beer, based in the High Street – they’ve also gone to town with their snappy title, with several related punny signs outside the premises too. A family run pub, the Barrel O Beer is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
Address:
The Anchor Inn, Fore Street, Seaton EX12 3ET
Barrel O Beer, Fore Street, Seaton EX12 3EQ

Buy Beer Related Souvenirs
We were praying that they’d have some nifty Beer, Devon related souvenirs and we weren’t wasn’t disappointed.
Several of the local stores have ‘Beer’ postcards plus proper ceramic fridge magnets starting from £1.99. Lots of local sweets and fudge with Beer related names can also be purchased.

Fish and Chips
Beer battered fish and chips anyone? Our final thing to do in Beer in Devon – you simply have to do fish and chips* on the beach – it is the law! (* or nearest vegan / veggie equivalent).
Several cafes and kiosks along the beach offer fine fish fare, starting from about £5 for a small portion of fish, chips and mushy peas. The best rated fish and chip shop here is the simply titled but top tasting The Beer Fish & Chip Shop. You’re welcome.

Accommodation
We visited ‘Beer’ for the day so didn’t stay overnight in accommodation but there are plenty of choices in the area, including the rather nattily titled Beer Head Caravan Park.
On Fore Street, in the heart of the village, there is Colebrooke Guest House and rooms are available at the Dragon Inn.
