Myeongdong is one of the best Seoul neighborhoods to stay for first time South Korea travellers or return visitors.
The area has great transport links, lots of tourist friendly and local restaurants like Kyoja, great night-life including Myeongdong night market – best of all, there are lots of Myeongdong hotels big and small to suit all budgets.

We regularly stay in Myeongdong hotels (or in nearby Euljiro) and have compiled this accommodation list based on the Myeongdong accommodation we’ve stayed in or recommendations from our South Korea Travel Facebook group which now has over 40,000 members.
From hotels with city views to budget accommodation, this is our guide to the best Myeongdong hotel accommodation in Seoul in 2025.

Why choose Myeongdong hotels to stay in?
We’d recommend checking out our Seoul neighborhoods guide which lists over 10 different districts we’d suggest visiting or staying in whilst in Seoul including Hongdae and Gangnam.
However, in terms of the best places to stay in Seoul, Myeongdong takes some beating especially for first time travellers to South Korea.

It has good transport links (which makes it easier to do Seoul day trips), and you can also walk to other downtown neighborhoods like Euljiro, recently described as Seoul’s trendiest neighborhood by Visit Korea.
Myeongdong is great for shopping and has several major shopping malls like LOTTE, Shinsegae and the underground mall and there are LOTS of K-Pop shops in Myeongdong. Plus it is within walking distance of fine food places like Gwangjang Market or Kalguksu Alley in Namdaemun Market.
Some say Myeongdong is a tourist trap which might be true, but it is a fun place to explore. If you’d rather something quieter but still central, we’d recommend staying near Insadong or Ikseon-dong.

Booking South Korea Myeongdong hotels – top tips
Once you are ready to start booking your Myeongdong hotel(s), there are a few general rules and tips:
- Peak season in Korea is generally classed as the summer months but you’ll also find room rates are likely higher in the winter because of Christmas in Seoul, public holidays and cherry blossom season (usually in April).
- We find Agoda and Booking.com have the best room rates for South Korea / Myeongdong hotels.
- Online rates for Seoul hotels are generally better than booking in person. We even had a situation where we tried to extend a Seoul hotel booking at reception (Venue G Hotel) and the staff kindly informed us we should book it on Agoda instead as it would be cheaper!
- If possible, book your Myeongdong hotel rooms several months in advance as the room rates tend to increase in the months before you arrive – also consider making use of the ‘cancellable’ room options that some hotel booking sites have like Agoda.
- We watch room rate prices in Seoul a lot and they generally rise the closer you get to arrival – some go up a lot in price especially Myeongdong and Hongdae. So book well in advance if you can.

LOTTE Hotels
One of our best ever stays in Seoul was in a Lotte hotel – we loved the huge TV screen with Netflix, electric reclining bed and big room size (compared to other Seoul hotels).
Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong (4*)
LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong is a short walk from Myeongdong entertainment district and close to one of our favourite Seoul at night dining destinations, Nogari Alley in Euljiro.

The hotel has a restaurant, coin laundry and is easy to spot with a huge human sculpture outside.

MOXY Myeongdong (3*)
One of the better quality international hotel chains in South Korea, one of our group members described MOXY Myeongdong as “…the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in” – which is high praise given its central Myeongdong location.

A midrange Myeongdong hotel with all the basic amenities, guests like the free 24/7 coin laundry and the fact you walk out from the hotel into the heart of all the action – there is also a bar in the lobby.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Seoul Myeong-dong (3*)
The first time we stayed in Myeongdong, we stayed at the relatively new Sotetsu Fresa Inn Seoul Myeong-dong and enjoyed our stay.
We had a small but sublime corner room meaning we had nice views of the city and we also liked the waiting area which looked out over the main shopping street.

As well as having access to a laundry room, we also really liked that at night, as soon as you walk out of the hotel entrance, you are literally in the thick of the Myeongdong Night Market.
We highly recommend the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Seoul Myeong-dong especially if you want to be close to lots of activities, bars and shops without having to go too far.
One of our Facebook group members says of Sotetsu Fresa – “one of my favourite hotels…in the middle of street food vendors. Hotel very comfy and the staff are lovely. I stay here every time I come to Korea”

Sotetsu Hotels The Splaisir Seoul Myeongdong (4*)
The hotel we’ve chosen for our summer 2025 Seoul trip is this Sotetsu Hotels The Splaisir Seoul Myeongdong. We chose it based on affordable rates, a great location and generally good reviews. Guests also like the large laundry room.

This is a great choice for families as you can also opt to get themed rooms like Line Friends rooms complete with cute toys and plushes.
Please note the hotel is up a steep slope so this might not be for everyone.

Ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong and Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong
Ibis is a popular European style hotel chain with lots of accommodation choices across Seoul.
They have two Myeongdong hotels of which Ibis Styles Ambassador Myeongdong is the more budget option.

We stayed at Ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong for a few nights and loved the location – the rooms were clean, modern and functional but the bathroom set-up was a bit odd and it has the world’s smallest laundry room (probably – it was more of a cubicle).
We also got a free drink at check-in (possible because we are Accor loyalty card members) and had it in the top floor restaurant one night overlooking the city plus a cool but compact roof terrace.
